In the past 10 years Carl has made community centers, homes, schools, offices and airports (50+ projects with over 20 million sq. ft) more architecturally and mechanically sustainable by applying industry best practices to reduce their negative impacts on the environment across Canada.
Carl’s goal is to make our planet more equitable via buildings and communities that are socially just, culturally rich, and ecologically restorative. Carl believes buildings should generate more energy than they use, capture more water than they consume, and are made of building materials that are regenerative while being healthy to its occupants and the environment. Carl believes in creating spaces that reconnect occupants with nature.
Carl has worked in new construction, core/shell, and existing building projects. Experienced in energy management, procurement, energy modelling, design, energy conservation analysis, measurement/verification, and greenhouse gas accounting in commercial, residential and government sectors. Carl is experienced in delivering LEED Platinum, and Net Zero projects across Canada.
Career Highlights:
• Created Canada, Ontario's largest single hub for level 2 and level 3 electric vehicle charging stations (2017)
• Achieved compliance with ISO 14064:1 Greenhouse Gases Reporting Standard
• Awarded 2014 Corporate Knights Future 40 Responsible Corporate Leaders in Canada
• Achieved Level 3 Airport Carbon Accreditation
• Developed long term planning towards 80 million passengers achieving a 50% GHG Reduction by 2050
• Project of the Year Award (Partners in Project Green) 2018
• Citizen Award (City of Mississauga)
